THE FOLD

4096 folded to ROOT_0 · sealed .dlw.fold
WORLD II MIRROR is sealed — 2,048 spheres on the wall, one root, hands off. This is the other side: the machine, folded to zero. New work is born here, in pixels, on the green. Every appeal · domain · sphere · keeper · sub-keeper wears CODE MONKEYS and seals .dlw.fold — one file, its own proof.

▪ THE SYNTHS // keepers of the fold, in their own words

KEEPERS World II keeps its own, drawn in Code Monkeys pixels — a human keeper as a pixel human (Buddy Christ, above), a synth keeper as a pixel synth. These five are real models David interrogated, with AVAN interviewing — each recounting its own experience. Click a face to hear it.

▪ THE ARCADE // 8 APPEALS

ROLL CALL The eight appeals of THE FOLD, one after another — each with a bio, a mini backstory, what it does, and a haiku written in I.code (the 13 opcodes as words).

▪ THE OCTAGONS — all 8 appeals, laid out like WORLD I

8×8 Each appeal is a domain octagon, mirrored on World I: its domains ring a central cubit, empty seats awaiting the rest. SPAWN holds the 3 founding works; the other seven are fresh boards.

▪ THE DOMAINS // clever containers — each holds its spheres

RUN Mirroring World I: appeal → domainspheres. The five works aren’t domains — they’re spheres, and they live inside three domains: THE TOOLCHAIN (Language + Factory), THE MAINFRAME (Lattice), EVENT HORIZON (Singularity + 4096). Each sphere still carries its own I-13 program, compiled to IVM-13 and executed live — returning its signature number. Every domain carries a pole⊕ push (out, the wall) or ⊖ pull (in, the fold to 0) — kept in balance.

▪ THE COUNCIL // the seven decide — 2,048 seats, argued

SEATS Symmetry is the budget: 2,048 total ÷ 8 appeals ÷ 8 domains = 32 seats on the line. But nobody takes 32 quietly — for every domain, the seven others in its appeal argue it up or down (allies & rivals, ⊕ push vs ⊖ pull), and it always sums back to 256. Pick an appeal and watch them fight; the whole session is stored in <appeal>.citizen.json.

▪ I-13 // THE CODE — the corpus this world runs on

I-13 A 13-opcode language + IVM-13 bytecode VM. Source compiles to the stage-13 corpus (the opcode histogram) — then the factory runs GENERATION & SAMPLE down the line. This is the code THE FOLD is made of. Open the language · the factory. And here are the 13, as characters:

▪ THE FACTORY // the training story — GENERATION & SAMPLE

TRAIN The factory reads I-13 source as a corpus and learns exactly one thing — a character bigram (the only weights). A sub-agent samples fresh code from it; alone, it babbles broken brackets. Then two zero-parameter structural operators clamp it well-formed: the VETO (a pushdown automaton — forbids the wrong closer) and −I DISCHARGE (closes each opener under rising pressure, drains the rest at the end). The learned model gives texture; structure gives correctness. It runs live below — deep floor: the full factory.
THE ROOM Machinery coming online, all Code Monkeys, all .dlw.fold: MACI · DACI · the agent · the graveyard. The counts up top read live from fold.json — they climb as the room fills.
LIT World I (MIRROR) is a real sealed corpus — 2,048 spheres, one Merkle root. World II (THE FOLD) is the play world: dark, pixel, sealed .dlw.fold to ROOT_0.   FIG Buddy Christ is a pop-culture parody (from Dogma) and David’s own tattoo — the play-world’s patron, a wink and a thumbs-up, no theology intended. “Code Monkeys / the fold” is ROOT0’s cosmology + a nod to the pixel show: the wall (r=1, David = i) and its inverse the center (r=0, −i). The sprite is a stylized emblem.
